The Senior Quality Engineer/Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for defining, monitoring, improving production service quality along with monitoring, approving, disapproving and auditing company suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Establish and implement quality control system and inspection procedures ensuring compliance with standards and regulations.
- Identifies and analyzes root causes and works with production and engineering teams on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues.
- Conducts audits of manufacturing and engineering processes, materials and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Develops and maintains quality documentation including test plans, inspection reports, statistical analyses and all FAI’s.
- Collaborates with engineering, production and support teams to implement process improvements and ensure product reliability.
- Monitor quality metrics such as defect rates, process capability and customer complaints to drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor and manage calibration
- Monitor and manage hazardous chemicals
- Owns NCMR process for non-conforming items hosting a weekly meeting with appropriate department personnel to disposition non-conforming material.
- Work closely with purchasing to process non-conforming material through the RMA process back to the supplier and both initiating and processing through supplier SCARs.
- Conduct vendor site inspections as required.
- Ownership of Vendor Quality Assessment and Monitoring process to include ownership of AVL and all accompanying documentation.
- Prepare monthly reports related to established KPI’s for company and vendors
- Collect Conflict Mineral reporting from approved vendors and generate Conflict Minerals Report (CMRT) for the company.
- Support customer and AS/ISO audits.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of inventory processing
- Experience working with internal and external customers
- Expertise in AS9100D/ISO9001-2015 standards
- Ability to perform efficiently with minimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- ERP system experience
- Must be able to interpret mechanical drawings and dimensional data and validate measurements on product received
- Must possess strong organizational/time management skills
- Must have well-organized reporting and logging capabilities
- Effective decision-making and problem-solving ability
- Attention to detail and effective follow-up on issues until resolution is a must
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and adapt to last-minute changes
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace or related Engineering field.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) are advantageous.
- 4-6 years of experience in relevant field.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance (if necessary)
- Must be proficient in math
- Certification in quality audits with at least 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
- Excellent command of the English language (spoken/written).
- Ability to travel to supplier sites to perform quality audits when necessary.
