The Program Manager is responsible for ensuring all program requirements are seen through to acceptable completions (cost, quality, delivery). The Program Manager also conducts budgeting, forecasting and reporting, program planning, proposal development, execution, monitoring, and control and reporting; serves as the primary program point of contact to the customer, executive management and the program team; and is responsible for managing and coordinating resource utilization across multiple programs. The Program Manager must display excellent skills in management, employee relations and planning in a rapidly growing company.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of programs from inception through completion
- Responsible for overseeing cost, schedule, and technical performance over multiple programs
- Establish milestones and monitor adherence to schedules, identify program problems and enact solutions, such as allocation of resources and contractual specifications (scope)
- Effectively communicate programmatic expectations and goals to leadership and program team
- Understanding of the practices used in functional testing, operational readiness of program hardware and logistical support from original concept through final implementation
- Track program progress and conduct status meetings with Program Team
- Provide direction to Program Team to mitigate program risks
- Responsible for defining program scope and objectives—with the support of functional management develop and monitor program work plans, task assignments, schedules, estimates, resource plans and status reports
- Act as a liaison to various teams (Operations, Production, Development and Executives) to identify and assess program processes, workflows, business requirements, technological enablers, financials, and communication
- Develop new business and/or expand the product line with the customer
- Recommend cost-effective solutions to address program challenges and/or opportunities
Job Requirements & Skills
- Knowledge of program and product management techniques
- Must demonstrate understanding and utilization of Microsoft Project or similar project planning software
- Exercise leadership competencies in: customer focus, open and direct communication, conflict resolution, being a change driver, process improvement, and ethics, compliance and safety
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, from entry-level to executive management
- Prior experience developing and adherence to Statement of Work (SOW) and Specifications
- Proven experience with relevant product and industry knowledge
- Must demonstrate the following skills: excellent written and verbal communication, organization and planning, problem analysis and problem-solving, team-leadership, formal presentation, persuasiveness, adaptability, innovation, judgment, decision-making, stress tolerance, collaboration, self-motivation, risk identification and management
- Must have the ability to acquire a US Security Clearance
- United States Citizenship required, no dual citizenship.
- Travel 20 % of the Time
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Five plus (5+) years of Program Management experience preferred
- Three plus (3+) years of Department of Defense (DoD) related Program Management or equivalent experience preferred
- Department of Defense Security Clearance – ability to acquire a US Security Clearance is mandatory
- Program Management Professional (PMP or PgMP) Certification highly desirable
